OPENING SONG

 FAITH IS THE VICTORY

1
Encamped along the hills of light,
Ye Christian soldiers, rise,
And press the battle ere the night
Shall veil the glowing skies.
Against the foe in vales below,
Let all our strength be hurled;
Faith is the victory, we know,
That overcomes the world.

Refrain
Faith is the victory!
Faith is the victory!
Oh, glorious victory
That overcomes the world.

2
His banner over us in love,
Our sword the Word of God;
We tread the road the saints above
With shouts of triumph trod.
By faith they, like whirlwind’s breath,
Swept on o’er ev’ry field;
The faith by which they conquered death
Is still our shining shield.

3
To him who overcomes the foe
White raiment shall be giv’n;
Before the angels he shall know
His name confessed in heav’n.
Then onward from the hills of light,
Our hearts with love aflame;
We’ll vanquish all the hosts of night,
In Jesus’ conq’ring name.

The Meaning of Communion with God

That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. 1 John 1:3.

Communion with God is the life of the soul. It is not something that we cannot interpret, something that we can clothe with beautiful words but which does not give us the genuine experience that makes our words of real value. Communion with God gives a daily experience that does indeed make our joy full. UL 295.2
Those who have this union with Christ will declare it in spirit and word and work. Profession is nothing unless in word and work good fruit is manifest. Unity, fellowship with one another and with Christ—this is the fruit borne on every branch of the living vine. The cleansed soul, born again, has a clear, distinct testimony to bear…. UL 295.3
To know God is, in the scriptural sense of the term, to be one with Him in heart and mind, having an experimental knowledge of Him, holding reverential communion with Him as the Redeemer. Only through sincere obedience can this communion be obtained. Where this communion is lacking, the heart is not in any sense a temple of God, but is controlled by the foe, who is working out his own purposes through the human agency. Such a man, whatever his profession or claims, is not a temple of the Holy Spirit. UL 295.4
The experience is perfected by fruit bearing. He who does not bear good fruit in words and deeds, in the strength of elevated, ennobling principle, is a bad tree. The fruit that he bears is unpalatable to God. His professed knowledge of Christ is a falsehood, a deception…. UL 295.5
In the light of the love of Christ, the gospel is an open book. This is the true light, which Christ came to bring to the world. The Saviour’s true disciples have received this love…. UL 295.6
From the light that God has given me, I know that men’s great danger is in being self-deceived. Satan is watching his chance. He will come to men in human form, and will speak to them most entrancing words. He will bring against them the same temptations that he brought against Christ. Unless their minds and hearts are filled with the pure, unselfish, sanctified love that Christ revealed, they will fall under Satan’s power, and will do and say and write strange things, to deceive, if it were possible, the very elect…. UL 295.7
Following Christ’s example of unselfish service, trusting like little children in His merits, and obeying His commands, we shall receive the approval of God.—Manuscript 120, October 8, 1903, “Lessons From the [First] Epistle of John.” UL 295.8

Songs for Sabbath Worship (6/17/2017)

Opening Song

Remember the Sabbath

Remember the Sabbath to keep it Holy,
honour the day
That our Lord commands us to cease our toiling,
and we obey,
That we may know Him,
and learn His patient ways.
Keeping the Sabbath holy,
in all our days.
So enter His temple with high thanksgiving,
worship the Lord,
and fill up this house,
with your voices ringing,
let them be heard,
for we adore Him,
and lift our hearts in praise
keeping the Sabbath holy,
in all our days.
Remember the Sabbath to keep it Holy,
honour the day
That our Lord commands us to cease our toiling,
and we obey,
That we may know Him,
and learn His patient ways.
Keeping the Sabbath holy,
in all our days

Song Service #1

Amazing Grace!

Amazing Grace!
How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost but now am found
Was blind but now I see
When we’ve been there ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’ve first begun
Through many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come
‘Tis Grace has brought me safe thus far
And Grace will lead me home
Amazing Grace!
How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost but now am found
Was blind but now I see
Was blind but now I see

Song Service #2

We choose the fear of the Lord

We choose the fear of the Lord
We choose the fear of the Lord
For the fear of the Lord is to hate all evil
We choose the fear of the Lord
We choose the fear of the Lord

We choose the way of the Lord
We choose the way of the Lord
For the way of the Lord is the way of wisdom
We choose the way of the Lord
We choose the way of the Lord

He who delights in the Word of the Lord
Shall be blessed in all of his ways
For the friendship of God is with those who fear Him
So we choose the fear of the Lord
We choose the Word of the Lord

We choose the Word of the Lord
We choose the Word of the Lord
For the Word of the Lord shall endure forever
We choose the Word of the Lord
We choose the Word of the Lord

Closing Song

In a little while we’re going home

Let us sing a song that will cheer us on the way
In a little while we’re going home
The night will end in everlasting day
In a little while we’re going home

In a little while, in a little while
We shall cross the billow’s foam
We will meet at last
When the stormy winds have passed
In a little while we’re going home

There is rest beyond, there’s relief from every care
In a little while we’re going home
No tears shall fall in that city bright and fair
In a little while we’re going home

In a little while, in a little while
We shall cross the billow’s foam
We will meet at last
When the stormy winds have passed
In a little while we’re going home

We shall do the work that our hands may find to do
In a little while we’re going home
The grace of God will our daily strength renew
In a little while we’re going home

In a little while, in a little while
We shall cross the billow’s foam
We will meet at last
When the stormy winds have passed
In a little while we’re going home

In a little while, in a little while
We shall cross the billow’s foam
We will meet at last
When the stormy winds have passed
In a little while we’re going home

Songs for Sabbath Worship

Opening Song

ALL HAIL THE POWER OF JESUS  NAME

1

All hail the power of Jesus’ name! Let angels prostrate fall;

Bring forth the royal diadem, and crown Him Lord of all.

Bring forth the royal diadem, and crown Him Lord of all.

2

Ye chosen seed of Israel’s race, ye ransomed from the fall,

Hail Him who saves you by His grace, and crown Him Lord of all.

Hail Him who saves you by His grace, and crown Him Lord of all.

3

Let every kindred, every tribe on this terrestrial ball

To Him all majesty ascribe, and crown Him Lord of all.

To Him all majesty ascribe, and crown Him Lord of all.

4

O that with yonder angel throng we at His feet may fall!

We’ll join the everlasting song, and crown Him Lord of all.

We’ll join the everlasting song, and crown Him Lord of all.

Song Service 1:

SOFTLY AND TENDERLY

1

Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling,

calling for you and for me;

see, on the portals he’s waiting and watching,

watching for you and for me.

Refrain

Come home, come home;

ye who are weary come home;

earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling,

calling, O sinner, come home!

2

Why should we tary when Jesus is pleading,

pleading for you and for me?

Why should we linger and heed not his mercies,

mercies for you and for me?

3

Think of the wonderful love he has promised,

promised for you and for me!

Though we have sinned, he has mercy and pardon,

Song Service 2:

Amazing Grace

1

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound

that saved a wretch like me!

I once was lost, but now am found;

was blind, but now I see.

2

‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,

and grace my fears relieved;

how precious did that grace appear

the hour I first believed.

3

The Lord has promised good to me,

his word my hope secures;

he will my shield and portion be,

as long as life endures.

4

Through many dangers, toils, and snares,

I have already come;

’tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,

and grace will lead me home.

5

When we’ve been there ten thousand years,

bright shining as the sun,

we’ve no less days to sing God’s praise

than when we first begun.

Closing Song

We Have This Hope

1

We have this hope that burns within our heart,

Hope in the coming of the Lord.

We have this faith that Christ alone imparts,

Faith in the promise of His Word.

We believe the time is here,

When the nations far and near

Shall awake, and shout and sing

Hallelujah! Christ is King!

We have this hope that burns within our heart,

Hope in the coming of the Lord.

2

We are united in Jesus Christ our Lord.

We are united in His love.

Love for the waiting people of the world,

People who need our Savior’s love.

Soon the heav’ns will open wide,

Christ will come to claim His bride,

All the universe will sing

Hallelujah! Christ is King!

We have this hope this faith, and God’s great love,

We are united in Christ.
